About the role#
The Washington Post is seeking college juniors, seniors, and graduate students for the newsroom Graphics Reporter internship. You will work alongside award-winning journalists and contribute as a staff member during this summer program. This role focuses on using data visualization, maps, and interactive experiences to tell stories.
What you'll do#
- Report and write articles, edit copy, take photographs, and produce video content.
- Create news applications including data-driven maps, databases, social media apps, widgets, and mobile tools.
- Mine online data and work with digital producers to present information.
- Develop audience strategy and perform data analyses.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors to weave reporting, coding, and design into digital stories.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student in a degree program such as Journalism, Communications, Computer Science, Data Science, or Media Studies.
- Proficiency in CSS(3), HTML(5), jQuery, and JavaScript.
- Experience developing with databases, XML, JSON, PHP, and Django.
- A commitment to accuracy, clarity, and journalistic rigor.

- Location: Washington, District of Columbia (On-site at headquarters).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position at $1021.13 per week.
- Employment type: Full-time.
