About the role#
The Government Relations Intern joins the Public Affairs department at the Walt Disney World Resort. This is a full-time, six-month internship running from January 2027 through June 2027. You will work on-site in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, supporting the team as they manage policy strategies and engage with government officials and industry groups.
What you'll do#
- Champion the resort's political and policy initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to local, state, federal, and international government officials.
- Conduct research on legislative priorities and prepare reports for key collaborators.
- Develop and implement communication strategies for internal and external partners.
- Plan and support special events held on resort property and within the local community.
- Manage additional project work as assigned by leadership.
What you'll need#
- Senior year student status enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Health, Communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of the political process, municipal operations, and local government.
- Previous political experience in a campaign, district office, or industry relations role.
- Success in building relationships and working with diverse groups to reach consensus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills plus critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or MAC OS environments.
- Ability to create professional presentations and communication materials.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Readiness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- At least 18 years of age with unrestricted work authorization.
- Knowledge of the Central Florida area and previous Disney experience are preferred.
