About the role#
The Editorial Content Co-Op joins the Communications team to tell the story of our work in life sciences, materials science, and AI research. You will work directly with our editorial team, which consists of former journalists, to produce content from start to finish. This role offers experience similar to a newsroom environment, where you will collaborate with scientists and engineers to share our progress.
What you'll do#
- Draft articles, explainers, and social media copy about our scientific work.
- Interview scientists and engineers to turn technical conversations into accurate stories.
- Produce short-form video from the initial concept through the script and final cut.
- Create visuals and graphics to make scientific concepts clear for general readers.
- Contribute to the editorial calendar and support launch plans.
- Fact-check drafts with internal experts before publication.
- Support team events, including on-site coverage and recaps.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program or recent graduation.
- Strong writing samples in science, technology, or news reporting.
- Ability to explain scientific subjects accurately to non-expert readers.
- Comfort interviewing subject-matter experts and working from primary sources.
- Precision with sourcing, fact-checking, and style consistency.
- Coursework in biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, or computer science.
- Experience with video production and editing tools.
- Familiarity with design tools for graphics, diagrams, or data visuals.
- Experience with student newspapers, magazines, or science communication.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- The term runs from January 2027 through May 2027.
- We do not offer visa sponsorship for this role.
