About the role#
This internship offers a chance to work with the Princess, Frozen, and Walt Disney Animation Studios toy design team. You will support specific licensed toy projects while learning how products move from initial concept through to production. You will work alongside the Design Manager and internal teams to extend existing business and generate concepts for new business opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Assist the design team with licensed toy lines.
- Research seasonal trends by category and monitor competitor innovation.
- Brainstorm new concepts and develop inspiration boards.
- Sketch toy ideas and provide guidance to Disney licensees.
- Coordinate product submissions for creative reviews and feedback sessions.
- Manage and maintain product and market samples.
- Present concepts and deliverables to management and internal teams.
- Complete three specific projects during the internship.
- Participate in potential limited domestic travel for licensee meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in a design-related field.
- A portfolio is required for consideration and must be linked on your resume.
- Strong sketching abilities and a genuine passion for drawing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and MS Office.
- Experience with PowerPoint deck creation and video editing.
- Knowledge of toy categories, specifically dolls, playsets, and roleplay.
- Ability to create overlays and mood boards.
- Effective communication skills and confidence in public speaking.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Glendale, California.
- The internship runs from January 11, 2027, through June 4, 2027.
- Candidates must be available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific Time.
- Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
