About the role#
The Hubbard Conservation Fellowship is a 12-month, full-time position designed for recent college graduates. It bridges the gap between school and a professional career by providing a wide range of hands-on experiences in conservation. Fellows gain practical skills while contributing to the mission of The Nature Conservancy. You will have the opportunity to shape your fellowship experience based on your personal interests and career objectives, including the design and execution of an independent project.
What you'll do#
- Perform land management tasks such as prescribed fire, invasive species control, fence repair, and seed harvest.
- Collect data and conduct independent project work.
- Handle outreach, communication, and fundraising tasks.
- Supervise short-term staff and volunteers.
- Travel to various Conservancy sites and attend professional meetings and conferences.
- Shadow staff and partners to learn different aspects of conservation work.
What you'll need#
- A degree (BA, BS, AS, or technical/vocational) in biology, natural resources management, environmental studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrable leadership experience.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to meet the qualifications for a Prescribed Fire Crew Member.
- Experience working outdoors and the ability to perform physical labor in adverse conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Location: Wood River, Nebraska.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position.
- Duration: February 1, 2027, through January 28, 2028.
- Compensation: The starting pay is $17.85 per hour.
- Housing: Provided at The Nature Conservancy’s Platte River Prairies.
