About the role#
The Independents is looking for a PR Intern to join the team in New York. You will support the agency with the day-to-day management of fashion clients, working alongside both the New York office and international teams. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Support press outreach and follow-ups with editors, stylists, and industry contacts.
- Manage sample trafficking, including deliveries, returns, and tracking.
- Maintain the showroom, collections, and sample racks.
- Assist with editorial and VIP requests, such as preparing selections and monitoring placements.
- Conduct research to identify relevant influencers, stylists, and industry profiles.
- Help prepare and execute press appointments, collection previews, and Fashion Week activities.
- Assist with the organization and on-site execution of events like dinners and presentations.
- Update internal documents including press lists, calendars, and RSVP lists.
- Monitor and track press coverage across print, digital, and social media.
- Create press reviews, coverage reports, and client presentations.
- Monitor industry trends, competitors, and emerging talent.
- Provide general administrative and logistical support to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate status, ideally with previous internship experience in fashion, PR, or communications.
- Strong interest in the fashion industry, editorial media, and contemporary culture.
- Familiarity with key US and international fashion publications and industry figures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and anticipate needs.
- Knowledge of Launchmetrics is a plus.
- Experience with sample management is a plus.
- French language skills are a plus.
