About the role#
The HALO Trust is seeking an Advocacy Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This part-time role supports our Congressional engagement, grassroots advocacy, and partnership expansion. You will gain insight into the non-profit sector and humanitarian work while contributing to projects that impact post-conflict communities. This position is paid at $18.40 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Draft e-newsletters, memos, and briefing materials for Congress and internal stakeholders.
- Track and report on hearings, legislation, and Congressional updates.
- Request Congressional meetings and record notes.
- Support HALO-hosted events and represent the organization at briefings.
- Conduct research on current events and advocacy-related topics.
- Assist with grassroots advocacy efforts and recruitment.
- Manage data and contact information within organizational databases.
- Support administrative tasks including calendar management and travel coordination.
What you'll need#
- Graduate student or recent graduate status.
- At least 3 years of combined work or internship experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform cold outreach and speak on behalf of our mission.
- Experience related to Congressional advocacy is a plus.
- U.S. citizenship is required.

- Modality: Hybrid (In-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
- Term: September to December 11, 2026.
- Commitment: 20 hours per week.
