    About the role#

    The Scientific Community-Building Fellow will help expand the plant-based meat research community by engaging experts from disciplines that are currently underrepresented in the field. This fellowship focuses on connecting with professionals in the physical sciences and engineering to address technical barriers in alternative protein research.

    What you'll do#

    • Create an outreach strategy to engage critical and underrepresented academic disciplines in plant-based meat research.
    • Build outreach materials, including briefing documents and toolkits, to facilitate relationship-building with individuals and academic departments.
    • Assess and improve upon existing outreach materials and tools.
    • Coordinate outreach to priority stakeholders and facilitate meetings or symposia.
    • Analyze data and literature to identify opportunities for engagement at scientific forums.
    • Create a final report summarizing findings and recommendations for the Science and Technology team.

    What you'll need#

    • Fluency in the culture of the physical sciences or engineering disciplines, supported by a Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of academic research.
    • Ability to translate complex technical concepts across different academic disciplines.
    • Strong skills in analyzing and interpreting literature and data to draw meaningful conclusions.
    • Experience planning scientific or academic research events.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both scientific and lay audiences.
    • A commitment to fostering a respectful, supportive, and welcoming work environment.
    • Preferred majors include Biology, Chemical Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.

    Location & details#

    • This is a remote, part-time position based in the United States.
    • The term is for Fall 2026.
    • This position is paid.
    • GFI does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
