About the role#
The Dispatch is seeking a multimedia intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a hands-on, paid opportunity for students to work directly with reporters, writers, and editors. Interns will gain experience in the editorial process of a media organization by contributing to podcast and social video production. The program runs from September 1 through the start of the Christmas holiday, with some flexibility regarding start and end dates.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the production of podcasts, videos, and social media content.
- Support the development and distribution of content, including clipping, asset gathering, writing metadata, and publishing.
- Identify key moments from podcasts, interviews, and live events for use on social media and YouTube.
- Record podcast audio and video, and assist with editing.
- Provide general editorial and multimedia support to the production team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Political Science.
- Strong interest in journalism, digital video, podcasting, and the media landscape.
- Familiarity with American politics, news, and public affairs.
- Hands-on experience with audio, video, or social content production via coursework, student media, or personal projects.
- Basic proficiency with production tools such as ProTools, Adobe Audition, Premiere, Descript, Riverside, or Canva.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
