About the role#
The For the Strength of Youth Writer/Editor intern joins the youth magazine team as a full member. You will contribute to both print and digital content while working alongside a team to produce each issue. This is a four-month, full-time commitment.
What you'll do#
- Interview youth from around the world and write their stories.
- Manage several departments for each issue.
- Write original articles and help shape ideas for future content.
- Select and edit submissions from contributors.
- Proofread each magazine issue to maintain high standards of accuracy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student or a degree completed within the last year.
- A major in English, Communications, or Journalism.
- At least one semester of college-level editing or writing experience.
- Strong skills in writing, revising, copyediting, and proofreading.
- A sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to sustain concentration for long periods.
- Professionalism and the ability to work well with others.
- Must be a member of the Church who is worthy of a temple recommend.
- Preference is given to those working toward an editing minor or taking classes with a writing or editing emphasis.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through April).
- Modality: On-site at the Church Office Building with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
- Compensation: This is a paid position and includes medical benefits.
