About the role#
The Historic Site Facilities team is seeking an intern to assist in the care and stewardship of Northeast Church Historic Sites, including the Sacred Grove, Hill Cumorah, the Priesthood Restoration Site, and the Joseph Smith Birthplace. Working under the guidance of a professional staff arborist, you will contribute to the preservation and natural beauty of these locations. This is a 6 to 9 month, full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on tasks in landscaped and forested areas to preserve historic site grounds.
- Conduct pruning, trail maintenance, and invasive species control.
- Operate chainsaws and other related power tools.
- Assist with routine cleaning and minor building maintenance as needed.
- Receive and execute assignments from the staff arborist while meeting challenging deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members and follow detailed instructions on all projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an educational institution or graduation within the last year.
- Pursuing an education in an environmental field, such as Environmental Engineering, Biology, Agriculture, Economics, Political Science, or Sociology.
- A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle.
- Ability to obtain sound judgment regarding Church doctrine, history, organization, policy, and protocol.
- Must be a member of the Church who is worthy of a temple recommend.
- Willingness to sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
