    About the role#

    The Vehicle Systems Software Department (VSSD) is seeking an undergraduate intern to join our team. We perform independent verification and validation of flight software embedded within avionics systems for launch vehicles, spacecraft, and other vehicle systems. You will work alongside our staff to provide technical oversight throughout the flight software development process, from requirements definition to mission operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct tests and perform analyses of software systems embedded within launch vehicles, spacecraft, CubeSats, and other mission-critical components.
    • Develop models of space system components for use in software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and emulator-based simulators.
    • Participate in the development and maintenance of simulations to support software validation, on-orbit anomaly resolution, and day-of-launch mission assurance activities.
    • Develop tools and techniques for enhancing analysis and simulation capabilities.
    • Apply creativity and critical thinking to troubleshoot challenges, solve problems, and propose solutions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks and the ability to return to your degree program full-time after the internship.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Programming experience in one or more of the following: Java, C, C++, or Python.
    • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
    • Submission of transcripts.

    • This position is based on-site in El Segundo, California.
    • This is a full-time internship.
