About the role#
The Student Technician provides hands-on support for analytical chemistry, engineering, and agricultural research projects. You will work directly with researchers and laboratory scientists to keep daily operations running smoothly. This is a part-time, paid position based on-site in College Station.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily lab tasks and experimental workflows.
- Prepare and process samples using various instruments and techniques.
- Perform basic lab duties including weighing, pipetting, labeling, and logging data.
- Maintain cleanliness in lab benches, the autoclave room, and common instrument areas.
- Operate, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Handle autoclaving of lab waste and sterilization of materials.
- Manage incoming packages, outgoing shipments, and inventory restocking.
- Lift and move equipment or supplies weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University.
- Preferred majors include Biology, Chemistry, Chemical or Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, or Agriculture.
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management skills.
- Dependability and attention to detail.
- Willingness to perform both technical and routine tasks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during lab work.
