About the role#
This team builds the tools and infrastructure that enable software development across Tesla. The mission is to increase productivity, minimize human error, and optimize engineering processes. You will work with component owners across vehicle, robot, and energy organizations to create technologies that act as an engineering force multiplier. This is a software development role that requires a focus on system-wide impact.
What you'll do#
- Interface with key leaders of components spanning all Tesla products.
- Develop code generators for highly efficient embedded code.
- Work with component teams to integrate with their microcontrollers.
- Advance developer tooling to scale up with the increasing number of products and variants.
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Design, develop, and deploy tools and services to augment the development process.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Experience with Python and Rust.
- Proficiency in data structures and algorithms.
- Demonstrated understanding of system design principles, including scalability and maintainability.
- Ability to write clean, well-documented code and debug for performance and reliability.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Autonomy and resourcefulness to drive solutions from ambiguous requirements.
- Genuine interest in developing internal tools.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks.
