About the role#
This internship takes place within Terafab, a vertically integrated semiconductor factory. You will contribute to mask engineering, which defines the foundation for every pattern printed in the facility. This is a hands-on process role focused on the development and operation of the mask shop.
What you'll do#
- Develop and qualify mask writing processes using e-beam and laser technology, including dose optimization and pattern fidelity for EUV and optical reticles.
- Support mask inspection, defect disposition, and repair strategies using die-to-die, die-to-database, and actinic inspection.
- Assist with registration and critical dimension uniformity control to meet lithography error budgets.
- Analyze processes using a first-principles, physics-based approach to understand and manipulate mechanisms.
- Participate in root cause analysis, set up inline metrology and SPC control strategies, and drive improvements in mask production.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Interest in mask writing, etch, inspection, repair, and process of record establishment for advanced node reticles.
- Strong skills in Design of Experiments and statistical analysis.
- Ability to work proactively across mask, lithography, etch, thin films, integration, and equipment engineering teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week) and on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks.
