About the role#
Tesla is seeking engineering students to join the Optimus team in Fremont. You will work directly with full-time engineers to build, test, and launch new systems for our humanoid robot. This role involves contributing to projects that push the boundaries of robotics and real-world engineering.
What you'll do#
- Design, prototype, test, and launch new systems and processes.
- Work on electromechanical actuators and robotic subsystems.
- Develop advanced test methodologies and automated manufacturing systems.
- Assist with full robot integration.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA or SOLIDWORKS.
- Experience with semi-automated or automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of design for tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Familiarity with Geometric Design and Tolerance (GD&T).
- Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, and instrument control.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and a problem-solving mindset.

- This is a paid internship.
