About the role#
Tesla Finance integrates traditional financial planning and analysis with business strategy and operations. Finance team members work directly within daily operations to support both immediate execution and long-term planning. You will analyze data, build recommendations, and lead cross-functional teams to implement those ideas. Interns are assigned to specific subgroups based on background and interests.
What you'll do#
- Lead P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecast processes, including reviews with leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Manage global manufacturing investments, evaluate CapEx decisions, and lead manufacturing cost improvement initiatives.
- Support product development by establishing cost targets and analyzing cost versus performance trade-offs.
- Track and manage profit improvement across the company to boost gross margins and cash flow.
- Manage R&D investments and long-term planning for new products and capital needs.
- Develop financial projections and evaluate ROI for new markets, business models, and service activities.
- Lead pricing efforts for Energy Products and manage investments into Sales, Marketing, and Service.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently with a focus on execution and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to work well in team environments.
- Evidence of exceptional ability in ambiguous environments.
- Experience with SQL, Microsoft PowerQuery, or Power BI is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
- The position requires a minimum of 12 weeks of commitment starting in May or June 2027.
- Work is on-site at one of the following locations: Palo Alto, CA; Fremont, CA; Austin, TX; or Sparks, NV.
- This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
