About the role#
This internship focuses on cathode precursor manufacturing process development. You will work within the Cell Engineering team in Mississauga to support the synthesis and evaluation of cathode materials. This is a full-time, on-site position starting in September 2026 for a 12-month term.
What you'll do#
- Design experiments and collect data in partnership with senior engineers.
- Develop, optimize, and scale up wastewater treatment technologies alongside technicians and engineers.
- Create and present technical reports to share project insights and results with internal teams.
What you'll need#
- A PhD received within the last five years in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with lithium-ion battery cathode materials synthesis and process development, specifically iron phosphate precursor synthesis.
- Knowledge of hydrometallurgy, precipitation, purification, impurity control, or inorganic process chemistry.
- Skills in mass balance, chemical process modelling, and morphology control in particle synthesis.
- Ability to analyze data and interpret experimental results.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
