About the role#
This internship focuses on the design and production of vehicle and powertrain products. You will join teams working on battery engineering, drive systems, hardware testing, and vehicle dynamics modeling. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing-centric designs using CAE, CFD, and FEA simulations.
- Perform simulations to evaluate sub-systems and full product attributes.
- Build and calibrate models, then correlate them with physical test data.
- Analyze test data to identify root causes and provide data-driven reports for design feedback.
- Conduct optimization studies on components and assemblies to meet performance targets.
- Collaborate with design, test, and modeling teams to enhance predictive capabilities.
- Provide feedback on thermal, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Contribute to DFMEA and technical specifications.
- Participate in feasibility analyses for manufacturing, assembly, and service processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree or a related field.
- Completion of coursework in statics, dynamics, and materials science.
- Experience with FEA, CFD, and finite volume methods.
- Applied experience in COMSOL, ANSYS-FLUENT, or STAR-CCM+.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
- Experience analyzing electronic components for thermal, fluid, electromagnetic, or structural performance.
- Exposure to HV battery design or automotive product development.
- Ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios using logic and analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in iterative, collaborative environments.
Location & details#
- Locations: Palo Alto, California and Fremont, California.
