About the role#
As an NVH Engineering intern, you will contribute to the design and development of vehicle acoustics. You will work alongside engineers to analyze and optimize the sound performance of our vehicles. This role involves solving technical challenges and improving the acoustic attributes of our products.
What you'll do#
- Design prototype parts and evaluate their impact on noise, vibration, and harshness.
- Optimize current sound packages to meet specific targets for cost, mass, and performance.
- Develop creative ideas for next generation lightweight sound packages.
- Conduct and analyze NVH testing for vehicle components to guide the design process.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle NVH issues using methods like TPA, panel contribution, FRF, and ODS.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to improve overall NVH quality.
- Perform testing at both the component and full vehicle level to support validation, attribute target setting, and CAE correlation.
- Develop and refine test methods, procedures, and data processing techniques.
- Manage and process data collected from various suspension parts.
- Create virtual tire models from physical test data to assist in setting attribute targets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of acoustics, vibration principles, digital signal processing, and sound quality metrics.
- Experience with Modal Analysis, Transfer Path Analysis, Panel Contribution Analysis, and data acquisition.
- Proficiency with NVH test equipment including shakers, impact hammers, acoustic cameras, PU probes, impedance tubes, string pots, accelerometers, and microphones.
- Knowledge of Siemens Simcenter Testlab software for data acquisition and post-processing.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python, CAD, and material analysis tools like Alphacell, Alpha cabin, or SEA software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Fremont, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 40 hours per week.
