About the role#
Tesla is seeking engineering students to join the battery team. You will work directly with full-time engineers to design, prototype, test, and launch new parts and processes. Every day, the team works on projects that improve energy storage for vehicles and the grid.
What you'll do#
- Design, prototype, test, and launch new parts and processes to improve our batteries.
- Collaborate with full-time engineers on battery-related projects.
- Contribute to work on high voltage conductors, advanced cooling systems, cell interfaces, and battery enclosures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design software such as CAD, NX, Fusion360, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
- Proven interest in hands-on engineering through project teams, academic projects, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including heat transfer, fluids, mechanics, and electronics.
- Familiarity with or interest in high-voltage battery systems, hardware testing, quality assurance, metrology, and mass production environments.
- Strong technical communication skills.
- A genuine curiosity about how products are designed, built, and operated.
Location & details#
- Locations: Palo Alto, CA; Austin, TX; or Reno, NV.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Commitment: This is a full-time, on-site internship requiring 40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Eligibility: You must be actively enrolled in an academic program.
