The Coordinator for Student Organizations supports a vibrant campus environment by providing operational guidance, training, and developmental support to student organizations and their advisors. This role focuses on advancing leadership initiatives, promoting student involvement, and managing the Student Involvement Ambassadors program to assist with recruitment and campus outreach.
What you'll do#
- Provide advising and operational guidance to student organizations, officers, and faculty/staff advisors to ensure organizational effectiveness and policy compliance.
- Develop, deliver, and assess training programs and resources focused on leadership development and organization management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for student organization inquiries, conflict resolution, and operational problem-solving.
- Lead the Student Involvement Ambassadors program, including the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of student leaders.
- Coordinate ambassador participation in new-student recruitment, campus tours, and orientation activities.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including Admissions and New Student & Family Programs, to align engagement messaging and support recruitment goals.
- Maintain records and documentation related to student organizations and leadership initiatives.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in education, higher education, student affairs, leadership, or a related field, plus one year of related professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with student organizations, leadership programs, or student engagement initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- Preferred: A Master’s degree in a related field, experience supervising student employees, and familiarity with campus involvement platforms.
Location & details#
- Location: Cookeville, Tennessee.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
