About the role#
The SXSW Conference Programming department is looking for an intern to assist with daily operations, content advancement, and data entry. This role provides hands-on experience in producing a large-scale international conference. You will work closely with the Featured Speakers team to support the planning and coordination of sessions.
What you'll do#
- Organize speaker information and input data into databases.
- Partner with the Featured Speakers team to resolve issues and answer questions via email.
- Schedule sessions and adjust them as conflicts arise.
- Manage session details with efficiency.
- Work directly with staff and volunteers on-site to assist with room transitions.
- Research specific topics to contribute to conference decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university or college.
- Residency in Texas.
- An interest in event planning.
- Proficiency with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
- Superb written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to remain agile in a demanding environment.
Location & details#
This is a paid position at $12.00 per hour. You must be available to work from October to March with a maximum commitment of 16 hours per week. Availability of 40 hours per week during the event may be required. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. Work can be performed remotely or in the Austin, Texas office.
