About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in security, risk, compliance, and resilience within a financial services environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain exposure to information security, physical security, and organizational resilience programs. The role focuses on identity and access management, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities, and security operations.
What you'll do#
- Process access requests, review queue activities, and monitor dashboards to support access governance.
- Partner with the GRC team on compliance initiatives, audit activities, evidence collection, control reviews, and documentation.
- Assist with tickets, project tasks, and administrative activities related to information security programs.
- Collaborate with teams across security architecture, business continuity, privacy, and leadership to support business objectives.
- Apply security policies and regulatory requirements while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Develop foundational knowledge of risk management, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information technology, or risk and compliance concepts.
- Strong interest in governance, audit readiness, and information protection.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience or coursework in areas like identity and access management, networking, systems administration, or audit.
- Familiarity with workflow and documentation platforms.
- Interest in frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC, or CIS Controls.
- Interest in pursuing certifications like CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow documented procedures.
