About the role#
Superior Construction is seeking a Project Engineer Intern for our Summer 2027 program. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience in heavy civil and highway construction. You will collaborate with our project management team to ensure the safe and profitable execution of infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Assist with material tracking, file management, and document control, including submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Contribute to progress reporting and learn project management functions like estimating, schedule planning, and project controls.
- Review and interpret construction plans.
- Interact with clients, managers, and employees with professionalism.
- Travel between project sites and the corporate office as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one class in the semester or quarter immediately preceding the internship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong time management skills and a teamwork-oriented mindset.
- A positive attitude toward professional development and a commitment to ethical conduct.
- A valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Preferred: Knowledge of route surveying and scheduling, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

- Location: Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12 weeks).
- Environment: Work takes place on active heavy civil and highway construction sites. You may be exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, dust, asphalt, and outdoor weather conditions including heat and humidity.
