About the role#
Superior Construction is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for our Summer 2027 program. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Crystal River, Florida. You will work alongside our project management team to support the safe and profitable execution of heavy civil and highway construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Handle material tracking, file management, and document control, including submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Learn and perform project management functions such as estimating, schedule planning, and project controls.
- Review and interpret construction plans.
- Interact with clients, managers, and employees professionally.
- Travel between the project site and the corporate office as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or a relevant field.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and have taken at least one class in the semester before the internship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
- A positive attitude toward learning and professional development.
- Ability to maintain ethical conduct.
- Knowledge of route surveying and scheduling is preferred.
- A valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the project office.
Location & details#
- Location: Crystal River, Florida.
- Duration: 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- Work environment: You will work on active heavy civil and highway construction sites. Expect loud noise, exposure to outside weather conditions, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
