About the role#
This is a full-time student position for the Winter 2027 term. You will support Data Centre Operations by assisting with hardware life-cycle management, physical equipment installation, and security compliance. This role is part of the Indigenous Student Employment Program and is open to First Nation, Métis, or Inuit (Inuk) candidates.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the IT hardware life-cycle management process.
- Assist with the physical installation of IT equipment in data centre cabinets.
- Collect and punch hard drives as directed.
- Organize IT hardware for installation or disposition.
- Schedule vendor pickups and coordinate onsite resource escorts.
- Manage building security requirements for equipment pickup and drop-off.
- Contribute to data validation for the DCIM tool.
- Assist in onboarding UPS devices to the Eaton IT Performance Management tool.
- Monitor and track tasks against timelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation and ensure compliance with security protocols.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or grade 12 equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Working knowledge of IT hardware terms and platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work independently and solve problems.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
- Must be able to obtain Reliability Status Clearance.
Location & details#
- Primary location: Waterloo, Ontario.
- Occasional travel to the Brampton Hereford Data Centre may be required.
- Work modality: On-site, remote, and hybrid options available based on assigned tasks.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
