About the role#
The Actuarial Internship Program at Sun Life supports aspiring actuarial professionals by providing a professional environment that encourages development and exam success. You will work alongside experts in the field, gain exposure to insurance concepts, and contribute to the team through hands-on projects.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills and learn core insurance concepts.
- Gain an understanding of product features, contracts, and the broader insurance business.
- Use technology-based tools to perform analysis and solve problems.
- Complete real entry-level actuarial projects.
- Present your summer experience to peers, managers, and members of the actuarial community.
- Participate in networking sessions and social activities with other interns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Preferred majors include Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to the actuarial profession.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to translate complex, abstract concepts and theory.
- Effective collaboration skills for working in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and programming skills are preferred.
- Prior actuarial internship experience is a plus.
