About the role#
The CNA Intern program is a structured, paid opportunity for high school seniors to gain clinical experience at Summit Pacific Medical Center. This role is part of a local initiative to support students as they transition into healthcare careers. Interns gain hands-on experience in the Acute Care Unit and Emergency Department while serving as mentors to first-year students. This position is part-time and operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Mentor first-year CNA students and assist with lab practice.
- Perform direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist with vital signs, bathing, positioning, feeding, toileting, and mobility support.
- Communicate with patients to provide comfort and support.
- Maintain clean and safe patient environments by preparing rooms, stocking supplies, and sanitizing equipment.
- Rotate through Acute Care and Emergency Department settings.
- Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and reflective learning assignments.
- Complete Phlebotomy training, supervised practice, and documentation required for MA-P certification.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a high school senior in the Elma High School CNA Internship Program.
- Successful completion of the Elma High School CNA Training Program.
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) credential in the State of Washington, including passing written and skills exams.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Eligibility to work under Washington State Department of Labor & Industries teen labor laws.
- Ability to submit all required Parent/School Authorization and Special Variance forms.
