About the role#
As a Swine Production Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across our swine management operations. This role is based at our headquarters in Alden, Iowa. You will work directly with our team to learn the full scope of production while contributing to daily site operations.
What you'll do#
- Work with the swine team to gain practical experience in all areas of production.
- Practice strict bio-security measures, including showering and changing clothes at each site.
- Monitor daily animal needs, including feed, water, and ventilation.
- Assist with training caretakers on bio-security and animal welfare protocols.
- Perform minor facility maintenance, such as calibrating curtain machines and replacing water nipples.
- Deliver supplies to various sites and provide feedback through site reports.
- Present a final summary of your work to the management team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Agriculture-related major.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment.
