About the role#
STV is looking for a Construction Management Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Richmond, Virginia, and requires on-site work. You will work alongside our project team to support daily construction operations, document progress, and assist with project coordination. We prefer candidates who can commit to a full-time schedule for at least 3 months.
What you'll do#
- Perform daily on-site oversight of construction activities and document project progress.
- Conduct observations of contractor work to identify quality issues, deficiencies, or deviations from project plans.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Review plans and specifications to identify potential construction issues.
- Coordinate with contractors to track work schedules and upcoming activities.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, daily reports, and project documentation.
- Attend weekly project meetings to document updates, action items, and outstanding issues.
- Assist the project team with field documentation and general construction management tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in construction, project management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and procedures.
- Familiarity with project management principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and legal regulations.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Basic knowledge of scheduling software.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification.
- Previous internship or relevant experience in construction management is preferred.
