About the role#
The Operations Internship Program provides students with hands-on experience in the daily functions of a commercial nuclear power plant. You will gain exposure to power plant operations, safety protocols, and system management while working alongside our operations team to ensure the safe and reliable production of electricity.
What you'll do#
- Monitor plant systems and processes to support efficient operations.
- Collect and analyze data to help optimize plant performance.
- Prepare and review operational logs and reports to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Support the implementation of safety and quality assurance procedures.
- Observe and assist with the maintenance of plant systems.
- Identify potential improvements in operations and safety practices.
- Participate in preparations for scheduled maintenance outages and system testing.
- Help troubleshoot operational issues to ensure equipment functions within designated parameters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year institution.
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering, or related sciences.
- Good academic standing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
