About the role#
STP Nuclear Operating Company offers an internship program for students to gain practical experience in the commercial nuclear power industry. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that support plant safety, reliability, and performance. This role provides exposure to plant systems and cross-functional teams while allowing you to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze technical data to present findings and proposed solutions.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation such as calculations, specifications, and design change packages.
- Review industry operating experience and technical reports to identify potential applications for the plant.
- Support the development of engineering processes, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support to Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Communicate technical information through written reports, presentations, and team discussions.
- Participate in internship program activities and professional development sessions.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, or another applicable engineering discipline.
- Good academic standing.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with an organized approach to tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment to meet deadlines.
