About the role#
Stout is hiring interns for the Complex Securities group for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, paid position where you will work directly with professionals on portfolio valuation, purchase price accounting, and corporate tax matters. You will gain client exposure and handle real work assignments throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Research industries, markets, and companies to support valuation assumptions and benchmarks.
- Analyze financial statements to identify trends, risks, and value drivers.
- Build and analyze financial models, including Discounted Cash Flow, Guideline Public Company, and Merger and Acquisition models.
- Prepare due diligence questions and evaluate documentation to validate financial and operational assumptions.
- Participate in client or management meetings to provide input on methodologies and conclusions.
- Evaluate valuation inputs for debt and equity instruments using professional judgment.
- Create presentations, analysis packets, and written narratives for senior professionals and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior status pursuing a BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0, with 3.5 or higher preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong financial statement analysis and modeling skills.
- Familiarity with valuation methodologies, including fixed income or credit valuation techniques like the Discounted Cash Flow Method.
- Relevant internship or extracurricular experience showing an interest in finance and valuation.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to synthesize complex data.
- Ability to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
