About the role#
The State Treasurer’s Office is seeking an intern for the 2027 legislative session. This is a full-time, paid position based in Salt Lake City. You will work directly under the Policy and Communications Deputy to support the office during the legislative session from January through March.
What you'll do#
- Track legislation relevant to the Treasurer’s Office.
- Attend legislative committee meetings, hearings, and floor sessions.
- Prepare notes and summaries for office leadership.
- Coordinate meetings with legislators.
- Conduct research and draft briefing materials on public finance, financial education, investments, and office history.
- Support financial education initiatives and attend board and commission meetings.
- Assist with logistical and administrative needs during the session.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the office.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a college or university program in public policy, economics, political science, business, finance, communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Ability to work full-time during the legislative session (January to March).

- This role is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the State Capitol.
- The position is on-site and requires professional attire.
- This is a temporary, non-benefited position.
- Candidates must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
