About the role#
The Legislative Policy and Research Office (LPRO) is seeking a student to serve as a legislative analyst intern during the 2027 legislative session. This is a paid, nonpartisan opportunity for graduate students interested in Oregon state government and public policy. You will focus on specific policy areas including housing, homelessness, land use, maternal and child health, or substance use disorder prevention.
What you'll do#
- Support committee organization and administration.
- Assist with bill management and legislative research.
- Draft communications and work on various policy projects.
- Collaborate with LPRO team members and participate in professional growth opportunities.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Current enrollment in a master’s, PhD, JD, or professional graduate program.
- Academic focus in public policy, law, or a field related to housing, health, or public health policy.
- Familiarity with Oregon’s state government structure.
- Ability to work in a nonpartisan role and serve individuals with differing perspectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in Salem, Oregon at the Oregon State Capitol.
- The term runs from January 4, 2027, through the end of the legislative session in June 2027.
- The role requires approximately 30 hours of work per week.
- This position is on-site and does not offer visa sponsorship.
