About the role#
Stantec is hiring a Water Co-op Student for an 8-month term starting in Winter 2027. You will join our process and treatment team to support water supply and treatment design services. We work with municipal and industrial clients, including those in mining, power, and manufacturing. This position is based on-site in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project administration, including writing reports, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking costs, and completing progress reports.
- Help technical staff with data research, compilation, and evaluation for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Perform calculations for water and wastewater processes, including pump, pipe, and equipment sizing.
- Conduct simple data analysis and support engineering tasks as needed.
- Perform field activities and inspect water or wastewater projects during construction.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering.
- Coursework or exposure to water and wastewater treatment, hydraulics, process control, water chemistry, biological treatment systems, or facility design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or interest in process simulation modelling, such as hydraulic modelling, BioWin, or Aspen/HYSYS.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- A valid driver's license.
