About the role#
Stantec is seeking an Electrical Engineering student for a 12 to 16-month term in our Calgary office. You will join the Electrical team within our Buildings group, working alongside experienced practitioners to support project delivery and design. This position is full-time and on-site.
What you'll do#
- Prepare CAD and Revit drawings from sketches or mark-ups.
- Perform load, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations.
- Produce layout drawings for tender, construction, and record purposes.
- Develop single line diagrams and control schematics.
- Complete photometric lighting calculations.
- Assist with motor, communications, security, and lighting schedules.
- Select electrical equipment, overcurrent protection devices, and wiring methods.
- Prepare technical reports and support project coordination, including interfacing with clients and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
- Basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code and Alberta Building Code.
- Understanding of building electrical equipment, including life safety power systems, communication systems, and lighting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing tight deadlines.
- Asset: Previous consulting experience or completed power-related courses.
- Asset: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or lighting software.
