About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will join our Buildings practice to support projects for public and private sector clients. You will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineers to develop your technical skills and gain practical experience. This position is based in Washington, DC for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Work with Building Electrical Engineers to prepare contract drawings, calculations, specifications, and project details.
- Use software including Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel to create documents ranging from conceptual design to construction sets.
- Coordinate with cross-discipline professionals on assigned projects.
- Participate in a Summer Intern Design Project alongside interns from other building design disciplines.
- Support team operations and promote a culture of health and safety.
- Apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems.
- Ensure the quality of project deliverables while following department production guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles and calculations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software like Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Ability to learn and develop skills in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to solve problems using professional judgment and creativity.
- Capability to manage tasks and meet tight deadlines.
