About the role#
This is a full-time Electrical Engineering internship based in Plano, Texas, for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our buildings practice to work alongside architects, engineers, and project managers on various building projects. This role involves supporting design tasks and contributing to the development of three-dimensional models.
What you'll do#
- Interpret drawings, codes, and project materials.
- Develop three-dimensional models of building components using BIM technologies.
- Perform basic calculations and layouts for building system components.
- Assist project managers and design staff in preparing and revising drawing documentation, including site plans, floor plans, and elevations.
- Create electronic data files that meet company and client requirements.
- Convert redlines into document-ready work.
- Manage drawing sets and maintain drawing revisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's program for Electrical Engineering, ideally having completed your junior year.
- Basic understanding of engineering concepts and the ability to perform basic calculations.
- Familiarity with floor plans, one lines, and details.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Experience with CAD MEP and Revit MEP is preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical, lighting, and technology design in the built environment is preferred.
- Basic experience with Autodesk Revit, Trane Trace, or EQuest is preferred.
- Previous project or internship experience is a plus.
