About the role#
We are looking for a Student Intern to join our Traffic Engineering Department in Phoenix. You will assist our staff with state and municipal projects, developing an understanding of traffic engineering principles. This includes work on traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, roadway lighting, traffic control plans, construction sequencing, and ITS plans.
What you'll do#
- Review engineering studies, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform and check engineering calculations, including quantity take-offs.
- Use AutoCAD and OpenRoads for design tasks.
- Prepare traffic engineering studies using Synchro, Vistro, and Microsoft Office.
- Conduct field visits to support project needs.
- Gain experience with various traffic engineering software.
- Back check drawings for accuracy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited civil engineering program, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree.
- Minimum status as a college junior.
- Interest in building a career in traffic engineering.
- Previous traffic engineering experience or relevant coursework is preferred.
- Local candidates are strongly preferred as this is a part-time, on-site position.
