Nursing Student

About the role#

St. Luke’s University Health Network offers clinical opportunities for nursing students to gain hands-on experience within a fully integrated, non-profit health network. This role involves working directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide goal-directed, individualized patient care. Students will participate in clinical rotations, applying nursing processes and care plans to an assigned group of patients.

What you'll do#

• Assist in providing patient care and basic nursing support under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform physical assessments and document patient status in medical records.
• Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, under RN supervision.
• Prepare patients for transport to hospital departments for testing and assist with discharge planning.
• Demonstrate professional behavior and utilize therapeutic communication with patients, families, and the health care team.
• Maintain composure and professionalism in unpredictable or stressful clinical situations.
• Comply with all network confidentiality policies and codes of conduct.

What you'll need#

• Completion of all nursing school requirements.
• Documentation of required criminal background and health history clearances.
• Ability to perform essential physical tasks, including standing for up to 10 hours, walking for 6 hours, and lifting or pushing objects and patients as required.
• Strong communication skills and basic knowledge of patient care.
• Ability to maintain professionalism under stress.
