Graduate Nurse, Acute Care (Med Surg) Internship, Opportunities at All Campuses (Full Time)

About the role#

St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care (Med Surg) Internship designed to bridge the gap between nursing education and professional practice. This competency-based program supports the transition from novice to advanced beginner through a combination of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, and simulation. Interns work with a dedicated education team and clinical preceptors to develop leadership, team-building, and conflict management skills.

What you'll do#

• Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
• Formulate collaborative, individualized plans of care, identifying expected outcomes using the nursing process.
• Prioritize patient care by coordinating with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain professional practice standards.
• Function as a professional role model and resource person for co-workers.
• Model the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all customer interactions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all materials and ensure the proper release of information.

What you'll need#

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• Nursing students with prospective graduation dates who will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship start date.
• Experienced RNs who have not worked in an acute care setting or have less than one year of experience.
• Ability to complete an initial 7 business days of classroom orientation.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours, lifting up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.

Location & details#

• Modality: On-site at various St. Luke's University Health Network campuses including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lehighton, Coaldale, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Orwigsburg, and Sellersville.
• Schedule: Full-time (36 or 40 hours per week), including holiday and weekend requirements per unit policy.
• Term: Rolling.
