About the role#
This full-time internship program supports the transition from a novice nurse to an advanced beginner within the Operating Room. The program uses a competency-based approach tailored to each learner, featuring seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulation, and clinical observations. Participants receive clinical preceptorship and complete the AORN Perioperative 101 core curriculum, which includes orientation to both circulating and scrub roles.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
- Document the effects of care provided.
- Work with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain professional standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials and manage information release appropriately.
- Model the Network Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all interactions.
- Comply with all departmental and Network policies regarding attendance and dress code.
- Demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment tailored to the age of the patient.
What you'll need#
- Nursing students with prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation dates.
- Eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship begins.
- Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
- Experienced RNs who have not previously worked in an Operating Room setting.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day, lifting up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.
