About the role#
St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care Internship designed to support the transition from novice to professional nurse. This competency-based program includes clinical preceptorship, supervised hands-on training, simulation, and workshops. Participants will work in various acute care specialties to expand their clinical skill set and knowledge of specific patient populations and disease processes.
What you'll do#
- Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
- Formulate collaborative and individualized plans of care using the nursing process to identify expected patient outcomes.
- Prioritize patient care by utilizing available resources cooperatively with nursing, ancillary, and other patient-team personnel.
- Maintain professional nursing practice standards.
- Function as a professional role model and resource person to provide guidance to co-workers.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- A current Registered Nurse license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- Ability to complete an initial 7-day classroom orientation.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.

- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time (36 or 40 hours per week) with required holiday and weekend shifts.
- Locations: Opportunities are available across multiple campuses in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lehighton, Coaldale, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Orwigsburg, and Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
