Graduate Nurse and Registered Nurse Critical Care Internship/Fellowship (Opportunities at Multiple Campuses) Fall 2026 Cohort

About the role#

The Critical Care Internship/Fellowship is a full-time, competency-based program designed to support the transition from novice to advanced beginner. The program is tailored to the individual learner and includes a clinical preceptorship, seminars, workshops, simulation, and supervised hands-on training. Upon successful completion, participants will work in a St. Luke's Critical Care Unit, providing care to patients across their lifespans.

What you'll do#

• Provide nursing care to critically ill patients by assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and documenting the effects of care.
• Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Maintain confidentiality of all materials and ensure the proper release of information.
• Demonstrate competency in patient assessment and treatment appropriate to the age of the patient.

What you'll need#

• Nursing students with prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation dates who will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the start of the internship.
• A minimum 3.2 overall GPA at the time of application, or a confirmed Senior Practicum in an ICU.
• Experienced RNs who have not previously worked in a critical care setting.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day, lifting/pushing up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.
