About the role#
St. Luke's University Health Network is offering a full-time, paid Critical Care Internship and Fellowship for the Fall 2026 cohort. This competency-based program is designed to bridge the gap between nursing education and clinical practice. Participants will engage in a progressive curriculum that includes seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulation, and clinical observations. The program is tailored to individual learners and includes a dedicated education team, clinical preceptorship, and certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and AACN Essential of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO).
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care to critically ill patients across their lifespan using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
- Document the effects of care and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with ancillary, nursing, and other team members to uphold professional nursing standards.
- Demonstrate service excellence in all interactions with patients and internal customers.
- Adhere to network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program with a prospective graduation date that allows for NCLEX eligibility and licensure prior to the start of the internship, or status as an experienced Registered Nurse who has not previously worked in a critical care setting.
- A minimum 3.2 overall GPA at the time of application or a confirmed Senior Practicum in an ICU.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day, lifting or pushing up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.
