About the role#
This full-time Internship and Fellowship program supports the transition from novice to advanced beginner for nurses entering the Critical Care setting. The program is competency-based and tailored to the individual learner, featuring a dedicated education team, clinical preceptorship, and a mix of seminars, workshops, simulation, and supervised hands-on training. Participants will complete AACN ECG modules, the AACN Essential of Critical Care Orientation, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support training. Upon successful completion, you will work in a St. Luke's Critical Care Unit caring for patients across their lifespans.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care to critically ill patients using the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and document patient care effects.
- Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel.
- Demonstrate competency in assessment, treatment, and communication appropriate to the patient age.
- Model the Network Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials and adhere to attendance and dress code policies.
What you'll need#
- Nursing student with a prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation date.
- Eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the start of the internship.
- Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.
- Minimum 3.2 overall GPA at the time of application or a confirmed Senior Practicum in an ICU.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experienced Registered Nurses who have not previously worked in a Critical Care setting are eligible to apply.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position for the Winter 2027 cohort.
- Opportunities are available at various campuses, including Easton, Coaldale, Lehighton, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Orwigsburg, Allentown, Sellersville, and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand for up to 10 hours, walk for 6 hours, and occasionally lift or push objects up to 75 lbs. You must be able to transport patients weighing up to 500 lbs. via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher.
