About the role#
The Southwest Florida Water Management District is hiring a student intern for the Water Use Permit Bureau. You will work with the Compliance section to assist with permitting processes and support senior staff on various projects. This is a paid, part-time position based in Tampa, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Manage overpumpage tasks within the Compliance section.
- Process ownership transfers for water use permits.
- Visit sites in the field alongside senior team members.
- Handle additional projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited college, university, or vocational program.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduates or 3.0 for graduate students.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred background in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and statistics experience are helpful.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida. This role is on-site only.
- Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Compensation: $16 per hour.
- Travel: Some travel within the District is required using a District vehicle.
- Working conditions: You may perform repetitive tasks like keyboarding and spend time outdoors, where you could be exposed to heat, humidity, or various pests.
