About the role#
Waukesha County is hiring two Engineering Interns for the Summer 2027 season. You will work within the Department of Public Works to support the design, construction, and operation of the local highway system. This role provides exposure to various aspects of civil engineering and offers opportunities to work on active infrastructure projects, including bridge rehabilitations and intersection safety improvements.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering staff with roadway design and construction administration.
- Perform CAD drafting and Civil 3D tasks.
- Conduct traffic analysis and generate reports.
- Manage construction inspection and maintain project records.
- Participate in bridge and culvert inspections.
- Support highway and park system asset management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and dependable work habits.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and contractors.
